Behind The Brand of Leadership: The Vision Driving the LEAP Youth Summit

At a time when many young people in Ghana are searching for direction, mentorship and opportunity, one leader is determined to create a pathway for the next generation to rise with purpose.

For the President of the Rotary Club of Accra La East, Rotarian Sante Barning-Andah, leadership is not just about titles or influence. It is about service, impact and investing intentionally in people.

That belief gave birth to the LEAP Youth Summit an initiative built on the principles of Leadership, Excellence, Action and Purpose.

Speaking at the maiden edition of the summit in Accra, the Rotary leader described LEAP as a commitment to equip young people with the mindset, mentorship, exposure and confidence needed to thrive in today’s world.

To whom much is given, much is desired,” she stated, explaining that the principle continues to shape her personal journey and leadership philosophy.

In a world where many young people struggle with uncertainty and limited opportunities, she believes the next generation already possesses greatness waiting to be awakened.

Our youth are not simply the leaders of tomorrow. They are leaders of today, leaders with ideas, leaders with potential and leaders with greatness already instilled in them,” she said.

The LEAP initiative was created to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity by giving young people access to mentorship, leadership development and personal growth.

But beyond the summit itself lies a deeper mission, building a culture of purpose-driven leadership among Ghanaian youth.

According to her, the summit was not organised for recognition or applause, but from a sense of responsibility to help shape future changemakers.

Our duty is to invest in the next generation, to open doors, to mentor and to create a path where none has been seen before,” she noted.

What makes the initiative stand out is its focus on action. Participants were encouraged not only to dream big, but also to challenge themselves, build meaningful relationships and actively pursue personal growth.

“You matter, your voice matters, your dream matters. But dreams alone are not enough,” she told the audience.

The summit brought together young people, mentors and professionals for conversations centred on leadership, innovation, mentorship and self-development, topics increasingly critical in preparing Ghana’s youth for the future.

For the President of the Rotary Club of Accra La East, however, this is only the beginning.

This is the first of many youth summits to come,” she said confidently, expressing hope that the dream behind LEAP will grow into something far greater in the years ahead.

As Ghana continues to grapple with youth unemployment, leadership gaps and the need for innovation, initiatives like LEAP are positioning mentorship and purpose as powerful tools for transformation.

And behind the summit is a leader who believes that changing the future begins by investing in people today.
